Pawan Kalyan’s Gudumba Shankar Completes 12 Years Today

‘Powerstar’ Pawan Kalyans “Gudumba Shankar” holds several specialties. Apart from its grandeur that made the movie a visual feast, it’s Pawan Kalyan’s costumes that became a rage among the youth of the mid-2000s.

The movie “Gudumba Shankar” is about a vagabond and a Casanova, Shankar, played by Pawan Kalyan. Along the way, he finds the love of his life–  how he overcomes all the difficulties that come along the way to gain his love forms the rest of the story. The movie was directed by Veera Shankar of “Premakosam” fame and produced by his brother Nagendra Babu. In contrast to his usual college going happy go lucky guy avatar, Pawan Kalyan played a street smart guy and he has done it with great panache.
For the first time ever Pawan Kalyan has attempted a complete comedy entertainer with equal doses of romance in “Gudumba Shankar.” The stunts, with personal care from Pawan Kalyan need a special mention as they are stylish and novel. The movie was dubbed in Hindi as “Main Hoon Chaalbaaz.”
It’s Pawan’s one man show all the way in the film. Be it in the fights or the comedy scenes, Pawan again proved his mettle. His flair for humor gets adequate exposure. He moves through the character without any apparent effort.
For the National Award winner Meera Jasmine, it was a conventional role. And full marks to Meera for her acting as she does appear natural. More over, she has used her own voice for dubbing. The director obviously has a flair for cooking a neat and uncomplicated plot.
The music of Mani Sharma is excellent and makes for easy foot tapping.  The songs are still fresh even after 12 years of its release. The camera work of Chota K. Naidu is pleasant and easy on the eye. On the whole, the movie is a good feast for all movie lovers.
