Spy film genre deals with espionage, either in a realistic way or as a fantasy such as “James Bond.” Spy films show the espionage activities of government agents and the risk of being discovered by their enemies. And this spy genre entered into our film industry as the “Goodachari 116” starring Superstar Krishna and it became the trendsetter for many spy thrillers in Telugu.
”Gudachari 116” starred Krishna, Shoban Babu, Rajanala, Mukkamala, and Jayalalitha in pivotal roles. ”Gudachari 116” was a spy film, which was directed by M. Mallikharjuna Rao and written by Aarudhra. Today ”Gudachari 116” has completed 50 years, it was released on 11th August 1966.
In this movie Superstar Krishna played a detective role named Gopi. Jayalalitha was paired opposite to Krishna and she was the daughter of rich man played by Rajanala, who commits crimes. Krishna and Jayalalitha fall in love and decide to marry. While Jayalalitha comes to know about her father’s crimes he replies by implicating someone else. Jayalalitha comes to Krishna and tells him everything. Meanwhile, Shobhan Babu enters the scene and both plan to send the villains to  jail.
When Krishna accepted to act in ”Gudachari 116” the director M.Mallikarjuna Rao used to remind him to be more stylish and confident in the role. Krishna gave a wonderful performance in this film.
