Saravanan Sivakumar known by his stage name Suriya, is an Indian film actor, producer and television host, best known for his work in Telugu and Tamil cinema. He is well-known for his versatile roles in various films. Surya’s father is the renowned veteran Tamil actor Sivakumar. He acted in more than 35 films and most of them were blockbusters.
After making his debut with the film “Nerukku Ner“, Suriya landed his breakthrough role in “Nandha” and then had his first major commercial success with the thriller “Kaakha Kaakha“. He owns a company called “Studio Green” which is involved in film distribution and production. He is the Brand Ambassador for TVS, Aircel, Sunfeast Biscuits, Bharathi Cements, Navaratna Products, and much more.
He is the founder of an NGO foundation called “Agaram” which fights against illiteracy and even produced a commercial video titled “Herova? Zerova?” outlining child poverty, child labour and lack of education. He is also an active participant of “Save The Tigers” campaign and “REACH” whose aim is to eradicate tuberculosis. He won many awards like Filmfare Award for Best Actor, Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Actor andVijay Award for Best Actor which was presented to him by the versatile actor Kamal Hassan.
